Living Room

Making QT VR movies is fun. Here's a HDR VR movie of our living room. Give it a few moments to load. Use the shift key to zoom in and the control key to zoom out.
If you looked closely at the reflection in the fireplace you can see the tripod legs used to capture the HDR images that were later stitched together.

I know a magician never reveals his secrets but this is one photo trick I would as well like to learn? How is it done.

The magic is in the software. I played around with a number of "stitcher" software programs, but PTGui pro is the best. Very, very good. This image was made with a fisheye lens. 3 shots on each of the four points of the compass (=12 total). At 90 degrees, three images bracketed for exposure. The program then blends them as HDR images (so as to get the full dynamic range necessary with a shot like this). After you get the panoramic image from stitching, then you have to convert it to a Quicktime VR movie, which the program also helps you do.

Your dining table is very active looking.

it occurred to me that a thing like this makes life a little easier for a robber who's planning on hitting up your house.

Mark-They do sell 360 degree cameras that will do this w/o the stitching software too (Giroptic 360, 0-360 Panoramic). I assume the software is cheaper though.
