Very cool pic!Great Horned Owl - they can be pretty aggressive. We have a male & a female living along the creek behind our house. I love to listen to them hooting to one another in the fall. They're one of the few species that actually hoot!
Oh... you said these birds were tethered. Are they rescues that couldn't be returned to the wild?
He's one of the birds and the World Bird Sanctuary at Lone Elk Park outside of St. Louis. I don't know his story.
